About the Author

Born in Marseilles (France) in 1948. After studying the double bass in that city and earning a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Aix en Provence, he left his home region to join the former national broadcasting network O.R.T.F. When this structure was dismantled in 1974, he entered the Orchestre National de Lille, in Northern France. He is the author of "Histoire des contrebasses à cordes" (Paris 1982), "A History of the Double Bass" (Villeneuve d'Ascq, 1989), "A New History of the Double Bass" (Villeneuve d'Ascq, 2000), as well as numerous articles on the same subject.
